In 2000, Sandra Figueroa Bast established Bast Services Incorporated (BSI) with two major objectives in mind. First, to deliver quality, cost-effective IT solutions focused on high-impact areas of the client’s operation. A second and equally important goal was to establish a means of "giving back to the community" commensurate with the success of the company. WorldView, the Education Division of BSI is the realization of that goal.
WorldView provides a unique palette of services to the urban community. Each of our educational initiatives is carefully selected and rigorously refined in order to yield the most beneficial results for at-risk students. In 2000, founder Sandra Bast saw a need for improvement in math and science involvement among minority students in the City of Chicago. Her response was to use her own passion for aerospace in conjunction with the popular internet-based Space Explorers, Inc.™ program and bring it into schools herself in the form of the Chicago Aerospace Initiative (CAI).
From a much less technological (but no less necessary) perspective, Ms. Bast noticed the need for cross-cultural and cross-generational experiences for students living in urban areas. To this end, she teamed with Michael Verde, whose Foundation for Alzheimer’s and Cultural Memory had designed an exciting program to unite AD sufferers with grade school-age students. The Chicago Memory Bridge Initiative, while an active exchange of memories, also teaches students valuable biology lessons pertaining to the functions of the brain and memory.
BSI’s Information Technology Division provides network services, security services, disaster recovery and business continuity planning, and desktop support, to clients in the Chicago area. BSI combines proven “best practice” methodologies, certified consultants and technicians, along with a full menu of core services.
Bast Services, Inc. is a M/WBE, SDB and 8A certified company.
